CURRENT NEWS: The Doncaster Tandoori held a CHARITY FUND RAISER night on the 14th SEPTEMBER 2004 for the people who have suffered from the BANGLADESH FLOODS. The fundraising evening was a huge success, and many thanks to all those who got involved. Look out for Doncaster Tandoori on Bangla TV SKY CHANNEL 811 soon and also Britain's most popular Indian restaurant Magazine Masala November 2004.
We were also mentioned in the Doncaster Free Press page 40 in a couple of paragraphs which said: "Charity Effort Proves Hot Stuff" Customers and staff at a Doncaster restaurant proved they were hot stuff by making a grand effort for charity. For diners and employees at the Doncaster Tandoori in Copley road joined forces to raise £1000.00 for the victims of the recent floods in Bangladesh.
Managing Director Mr. Nurul Kabir came up with the idea of the fund raising charity dinner and the more than 70 regular customers tucked into a delicious array of spicy dishes and the curries after snapping up tickets for the special dinner. To boost funds further, restaurant goers also chipped in by taking part in a charity raffle held on the night. And as a thank you for the restaurant's efforts, Mr. Kabir was invited to the Bangladesh embassy in London to hand over the cheque to grateful staff."
Here are some pictures we took at a meeting with the Bangladesh High Commission! Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3. Look at our Certificate we were awarded at the Bangladesh High Commission.
The Bangladeshi Government estimates the disaster has caused $7bn worth of damage. Although the floods are now receding, hundreds of thousands of hectares of fields remain underwater as do thousands of factories. For more news visit http://news.bbc.co.uk
